Frequently Asked Questions
Paul Graham Homes, LLC, managed by Paul Graham, is located in Madison, MS. We are a small-volume company specializing in high-quality custom homes. Instead of focusing on volume building, Paul chooses to work with individuals to build their custom home. We typically built only 3-5 homes per year and the homes range from 2,800 to over 6,000 square feet.
Q: Do you have lots and plans to choose from?
A: We do occasionally have lots available that we own. Some of our customers who come to us already have a lot and plans. Others may need help in locating a lot and having plans drawn. We are always available to help a customer in lot selection and we work with several architects locally and around the region for plans.
Q: Do you have homes available already built?
A: We do spec build but very little. We prefer to focus on individuals building custom homes. Please give us a call and we will be glad to share with you homes we may have already under construction.
Q: Do you provide remodeling services?
A: Yes, Paul Graham Homes is a full service residential general contractor. We build homes, outdoor living areas, and provide exterior and interior remodeling services.
Q: How much does it cost to build a home?
A: Each home is so unique in its own design and features that cost will vary because of these differences and market conditions.
Q: How do you price the cost of construction?
A: Once plans have been drawn and a lot selected we meet with the customer to outline the specifications that the customer wants. This information is used to develop a detailed cost estimate based on all the different characteristics of the home, lot and specifications.
Q: How long does it take to build a home?
A: This depends on the time of year the construction begins, the size of the home and the features selected. Typically 8-10 months.
Q: Should I use a builder who is fully insured?
A: Our opinion is yes. We care builders risk insurance, which protects the home while it is under construction, general liability and workers compensation. Not all builders provide this protection of your investment.
Q: What is a Certified Professional Builder?
A: A Certified Professional Builder is a licensed Mississippi builder who has chosen to pursue professionalism through the Certified Professional Builder program. CPB builders seek professional development through continuing education and are committed to achieving higher levels of customer satisfaction. Participants in the Certified Professional Builder program have agreed to meet the following standards, which are well above the requirements for licensing in the State of Mississippi:
- Must be licensed by the Mississippi State Board of Contractors.
- Must have built no less than ten homes.
- Main occupation must be home building or industry-related, subject to approval by the CPB committee.
- Must offer binding arbitration with their new homes.
- Must maintain appropriate insurance coverage including builders risk, general liability, and workers' compensation.
